National Day Theme Activities

Today, we hold on with our colour theme activities and move in to the National Day Theme. This coming Saturday is our National Day, therefore, I would like to take this opportunity for the children to complete their National flag making and also brief them a little about the history of Malaysia.

Sometime ago during our blue colour theme activities, the children had already coloured the Malaysia flag accordingly. So today, I gave each of them a straw to paste their flag onto it. It looks easy but somehow, the children had some difficulty to glue the straw firmly.

I had a brief explanation about the history of Malaysia. The date of our independent day was on 31^st of August, 1957. The children didn’t seem to understand about the year, then I had to use their birth year to explain it. Still it took them a while to understand this. I guess it’s too abstract for them to imagine it.

Kwan Ming brought 2 mangosteens and he would like to share with his fellow classmates. However, due to the insufficient time, we postponed such activities till tomorrow. Besides, I also brought a purple fruit to share with them but I kept it as a surprise for the children.

Tomorrow we shall have a parade around the school area together with other class. So everyone was encouraged to show up in neat and nice clothes or traditional clothes if they have.
