Seahorse

Today, we started a new area of the underwater world. We shall learn about seahorse. Seahorse is a unique sea creature and the children were excited to know more about it.

Before we move into more details, I showed them a cartoon programme – Wild Kratts. In one of the episode, they did some introduction about seahorse. It’s pretty easy and fun way for the children to learn about it.

After the movie, we had a short discussion about some facts that mentioned in the cartoon.

Teacher: In the cartoon, it says seahorse is ……?

Children: Fish.

Teacher: The fish wanted to eat the seahorse. What did the seahorse do?

Children: Change colour.

Teacher: You saw the baby seahorse coming out from the seahorse. Is that a mother seahorse or father seahorse?

(Some said mother while some said father. So I corrected them that it is the father seahorse who was shooting out all the baby seahorses from its pouch. )

The children requested to draw the seahorse that they had just watched. So I gave each a piece of paper.
