Count the Pumpkin Seeds

I placed those pumpkin seeds under the hot sun for a day yesterday. Therefore, today, it’s ready to be used. Since the children had given the guesses yesterday, today, we shall count the pumpkin seeds.

I divided the children into 2 in a group and gave them some pumpkin seeds each. The children decided to count the pumpkin seeds in ten. At first, only one or two groups of children managed to understand the concept of counting the pumpkin seeds in 10. Most of the children needed guidance and demonstration. However, after a few rounds of monitoring, the children managed to tell me the numbers of pumpkin seeds that they had counted. The total of pumpkin seeds are 474. The children were amazed with that numbers as it was just a small pumpkin.

From this activity the children also learned to cooperate with their friends in getting the task done though some of them started to argue and I have to get involved in settling the argument.
