Last Project: Sandwich
Today, I brought in all the necessary ingredients and get the children to start by groups.
First, I get the pot heat up and get the children to place the eggs into the pot with water so that we could cook boiled eggs. They were nine of them, Leow Xun, Sueanne, Yong Jun, Zun Yu, Ethan, Rachel, Cheng Kai, Mei Jia & Si Ying. We have about 10 eggs for our sandwich today. So the extra one, I shall handle it. The boiled eggs will take about 20-25 minutes of cooking time. The children left to do other things such as reading or drawing.
Then, I called upon another group of children, Suzanne & Yee Ern, to wash and soak the lettuce in some salt water.
While the girls were busy with the lettuce, I called upon Lucas and Lik Shin to slice the tomatoes.
After that, I peeled the apples and get Yi Zue and Deshayne to slice them as well.
When the boiled eggs were ready, I get the 9 children to come back to the table to peel the egg shells and added in some cheese mayo. The eggs were pretty hot even though I have put them into some cold water before passing it to the kids. Anyhow, they managed to peel off the shells and added in the cheese mayo and we could get the ingredients ready for the sandwich by 5pm.
Looking at the time, I have to put in all the ingredients for them instead of them putting it by themselves. I got ready 2 slices of bread. I spread some butter on both of the bread. Then, I spread some egg with cheese mayo onto the bread before placing the lettuce, tomato slices and apple slices. I cut the bread into a triangle shape so that 2 children could share it.
The children enjoyed eating and were asking for more!! The sandwich project was a success!
Note: The children will switch to Bahasa Malaysia's thematic class for the next 2 months, May & June. I shall see the children again in July! Have fun!
