Decorations making with Angpao packets

Over the week, some of the children had been bringing angpao packets (red packets) from home. Now, we should have sufficient angpao packets to start our Chinese New Year decorations making.

Before we start, I demonstrated 2 different kinds of paper cutting methods, the children were free to choose whichever they think that they could do. I even drew the steps and outcome on the board for them to refer. One of the product will ended with horizontal cuttings while the other one will be vertical. This gave them a better view of how their art work will look at the end.

Even though there were few mistakes here and there, yet, the children didn't give up and wanted to get their art work done correctly. I'm so proud of them! Finally, everyone of them did at least 2 art work while some did more. As long as they enjoyed and learning happily, that's the most important order of the day!

Here were some pictures taken during the activity:

Cheng Kai getting ready to cut his angpao packets.

Yee Ern is using the glue to paste the opening of the angpao packets.

Mei Jia folding the angpao packets into half according to the instructions given.

Suzanne done her art work. She pressed it to make it looked like a lantern.

Leow Xun demonstrated how the lantern would look like.
