Vultures

Today, we revised about the information and facts that we learned about baboon. Then, we read something about vultures today.

The children were quite curious about this animal. Though some of them might have read about vultures, yet most of them don't know anything about it.

Vulture is a large bird of prey. It feeds on carcasses. However, the children understand dead animal instead of carcasses. The vulture usually won't hunt as it's claws are blunt. It also took me a while to explain the meaning of blunt and sharp. I even gave some examples of sharp and blunt with the hope that the children could get its meaning. The special features of a vultures would be their featherless neck. It's because the vulture needs to put their head into the carcasses to eat the meat in it. If the vultures have feathers on their neck, the stains would be difficult for them to keep it clean and might lead to infections and sickness. Besides that children, I learned something today too.

We might do some worksheet on these three animals next week - hyena, baboon and vultures.
