My Favourite Food (part II) & Fun with Food Chant
The children had done their pasting of their favourite food on the paper plate. Therefore, today, I wanted them to share at least 3 of their favourite food that they had pasted on the paper plate. Most of them could share with the class.
After that, we carried out an activity that required the children to follow the rhythm that they learned from the "Fun Food Chant" by choosing any 3 food to chant with.
The children needed to think of some creative sentences rather than the ordinary one.
Example of an ordinary sentence - Apple, apple, I like apple. OR Apple, apple, I love apple.
Example of a creative sentence - Apple, apple, round juicy apple. OR Apple, apple, apple is red.
We had done a few times on practising making fun and creative sentences. I set 2 different set of rules for the 6 and 5 years old children.
The rules for 6 years old children:
-1) Once they had made a fun & creative sentence, they will get a "star"
-2) If they made an ordinary sentence, they will only receive a "triangle". They needed to collect 3 "triangles" in order to turn it into a "star"
-3) Those who had collected 3 "stars" will be rewarded with a lollipop
The rules for 5 years old children:
-1) Once they had made a fun & creative sentence, they will get a "star"
-2) If they made an ordinary sentence, they will only receive a "triangle". They needed to collect 2 "triangles" in order to turn it into a "star"
-3) Those who had collected 3 "stars" will be rewarded with a lollipop
With such rules, they children will try their best to make those fun & creative sentences. Some of them we gave some exceptional but at least they tried their best! I'm happy to see their courage in trying. Yet, there were still a small group of them who couldn't fulfill the requirement. They didn't get any reward after the game. I do hope they could try again and be brave in accepting the challenge in the future.
